UNIQUE ECONOMIC MODEL

Whispering Dawn communities offer a unique economic model that insures the long term viability of the community

  1.    USE OF LEASED LAND INSTEAD OF OWNED LAND

Traditional elder communities and co-housing developments have faced serious financial challenges because of their pursuit of "owning the land" upon which the community is built.  Unfortunately, the cost of land purchase has become prohibitively expensive within the United States and abroad.  Moreover, from a truly "spiritual perspective" the concept of "private" land ownership is a violation of planetary land use, a man-made economic construct.
Whispering Dawn communities will be built upon land that is either leased or donated as a land conservation trust.

  2.    USE OF MODULAR CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIES INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL METHODS
As with the current unaffordable "owned land," the use of traditional "stick" construction methodologies for building has also become prohibitively expensive.  The construction of "affordable" Whispering Dawn communities will also depend on the use of sophisticated, reliable, sustainable, and ecologically sound modular technologies that are emerging around the world.

  3.    INTEGRATION OF BOTH RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS INTO COMMUNITY

The pre-planned use of an integrated financial operations plan that contains both residential and commercial operations within the community is critical to the long term economic viability of Whispering Dawn communities.
Many planned communities fail to survive over the long term because of financial crises caused by insufficient maintenance funds, escrowed repair funds, rising labor and materials costs, and most importantly, rapidly rising insurance and tax costs.
In addition, the use of both permanent and temporary residential units within the Whispering Dawn community will encourage operational cash flow as well as dynamic human interaction that nurtures personal growth.

  4.    TRANSITIONING PHILOSOPHY FOR RESIDENTIAL LIVING

The final unique aspect of the Whispering Dawn Community is the flexibility for residential living.  Usual elder communities require a person to make a "final, definite commitment" to permanent living within a specific community location.  Whisipering Dawn provides significant flexibility for the desires of the resident:

    1.           TEMPORARY TO PERMANENT LIVING
A resident can choose to live only temporarily in the community until a decision is made to become a permanent resident.  This allows a younger person to "vacation" at the Community location before committing to permanent residency.  This approach also minimizes the cost of becoming a member.
    2.           CHOICE OF LOCATIONS
A temporary resident may choose to be part of any one of the Whispering Dawn Communities that are planned throughout the world.  A unique opportunity is presented for international "vacation travel" as well as searching for a "final community" destination.  This approach to elder lifestyle is becoming more prevalent among the "baby boomers" who seek a "globally mobile" lifestyle.
    3.           AGE FLEXIBILITY
A resident can choose not only where to live, but also the services within the Whispering Dawn Community.  Depending on age and personal preferences, a resident (both temporary and permanent) can choose the array of holistic services that are offered by each community.  Each resident is presented with an "a la carte" menu of services including meals, healthcare and recreational activities.

Regarding the role of elders in Whispering Dawn Communities

1. The core group elders "pass on wisdom" from their personal life experiences to all younger generations.

2. All younger generations consciously embrace the "wisdom of elders", and then "test" that wisdom in their personal life experiences.

3. The total community actively demonstrates the "collective, intentional group wisdom" not only within the community, but also within the larger, external world.

4. The community, guided by elders, remains holistic in its wellness approach; affordable to the lower two thirds of the population of the local area; and, financially and ecologically self-sustainable over the long term.

WHO IS A
"CORE GROUP" ELDER?

1. An Elder (48+ years of age) is a person who is still growing, still a learner, still with potential. An Elder's life continues to have within it promise for, and connection to, the future.
2. An Elder is still in pursuit of happiness, joy, and pleasure. His/her birthright to these remains intact.
3. An Elder is a person who deserves respect and honor.
4. The work of an Elder is to synthesize wisdom from long life experiences and to formulate this into a legacy for future generations.

WHAT CAN WHISPERING DAWN ELDERS OFFER?

Our society needs an engaged and engaging elderhood because such a life stage offers the best possible refutation of the doctrine of youth's perfection. Before we voluntarily surrender our adulthood, most of us will need to see with our own eyes that a valued and valuable elderhood truly exists. Perhaps more than any people who have ever lived, our society needs elders. We need a renewed elderhood that can help older adults become the elders they were meant to be. We need a place where we can learn how to make this happen. Whispering Dawn communities can offer this unique opportunity.
